Mechanic Journeyman Mike Fairburn’s annual Skeleton Truck is drop dead successful at gaining attention. “It’s fun to come out of Wal-Mart or something like that and have a crowd of people ask to take pictures with the truck,” he said. This is Fairburn’s sixth year of taking his skeleton crew on a Halloween ride.
“It’s something to do,” Fairburn said modestly. “I’m not really big on other holidays. Halloween is my favorite.” He said it usually takes two or three days to come up with an idea and anywhere from a few hours to a few days to create the display, which is lit at night.
Every year, Fairburn takes the truck to Dillon State Park, where he’ll hand out candy to children and their families.
He has no plans to ever stop creating the Halloween Skeleton Truck. In fact, he’d like to start adding automation to the skeletons and take the display to a “live action” next level!
